Assembly instructions
Before you begin: To maximise the performance of the non-slip Rug Pad, ensure the area you intend to lay your rug on is clean, dry, and free of any dirt or other debris.
Indoor-only rugs (Flatwoven, Plush): Avoid laying the rug on flooring areas with high humidity (i.e. right next to a vent).
Outdoor/Indoor* rugs (Flat-Weave/Outdoor): While your rug is water-resistant, avoid letting it sit wet for prolonged periods of time.
To eliminate potential bumps and bubbles during assembly, in some cases, it may be best to allow for your Rug Cover and Rug Pad to sit out for a day to relax and flatten after shipment.
Setting up your rug will be easiest with an extra pair of hands - so grab a friend!
1. Open the Box
Inside your box you will find:
A. Rug Cover: You received a Rug Cover with your rug design on the top and a grey fabric backing.
B. Rug Pad pieces: With your 245x305 Rug System, you received a Rug Pad made up of two smaller pieces for easier assembly. These pieces have our unique ClingEffect™ technology on the top and a rubbery bottom that will grip the floor.
2. Prep the Rug Cover
A. Set aside the Rug Pad pieces as you prepare the Rug Cover.
B. Lay out the Rug Cover with the grey fabric side touching the floor.
C. Then, roll up the Rug Cover, design side in, starting from the longer, 305 cm edge for an 245x305 rug.
D. Set aside the Rug Cover as you prep the Rug Pad pieces.
3. Lay out the Rug Pad
A. Place your rolled-up Rug Pad pieces side by side and unroll them next to each other, then flip each Rug Pad piece so the rubbery side is down.
B. Line up the Rug Pad pieces with the longer edges touching. Pull the pad pieces as close together as possible, ensuring there is no gap between them.
4. Roll out the Rug Cover
A. Start along one of the longer, 305 cm sides of the Rug Pad (i.e., the sides without the Rug Pad seam).
B. Evenly align the rolled Rug Cover with the Rug Pad edge, leaving about 5-10 cm of overhang** on each side.
C. Begin unrolling the Rug Cover over the Rug Pad. As you unroll, be sure to smooth out any major wrinkles from the middle outward.
D. Just before you roll the Rug Cover onto the second Rug Pad piece, stop and make sure there is no gap between the two Rug Pad pieces.
E. Finish unrolling the Rug Cover onto the Rug Pad and enjoy!
Note: Do not tuck the Rug Pad into the corners of the Rug Cover. These corners were designed to weigh the rug down and ensure the Rug Cover lays flat on your floor.
5. Add the Finishing Touches
A. To remove wrinkles, roll up and lift the Rug Cover corners diagonally and smooth back down from the middle outward as you unroll the Rug Cover.
B. If the Rug Cover corners are lifted, pull them up off the Rug Pad and smooth them back down.
Voila—your Ruggable rug is ready for action!
A Few Reminders
Our Rug Cover is designed to be bigger than your Rug Pad. This is to make sure that the Rug Pad stays out of sight once assembled.
Do not tuck the Rug Pad into the silicone corners underneath the Rug Cover. These are designed to weigh down the corners of the Rug Cover so it lays flat on the floor.
If the corners appear lifted, simply pull the Rug Cover up, give a little tug, then smooth the Cover back down.
*Only our Standard Rug Pads are safe for outdoor use
